Set up background counting
iOS only lets apps read the hinge while they're on screen. Shortcuts can tell Hingeworthy each time you open or close your phone, so it keeps counting when the app is closed.
- Open Shortcuts, tap Automation, then +.
- Choose Opened or Closed, select Opened only, and choose Run Immediately.
- Tap Next, search for Hingeworthy, and pick Log Duo Opened.
- Repeat with Closed and Log Duo Closed.
- Turn off Notify When Run on both so you don't get a banner each time.
Open Hingeworthy and go to Settings › Background counting. It turns green once an automation has run.
Why doesn't the widget show the hinge angle?
Widgets can only update when the app or Shortcuts gives them new data, and neither can read the angle while the app is closed. The angle is always live inside the app.
My count seems low
Without the Shortcuts automations, Hingeworthy only counts while it's open. Set up background counting above, then check that both automations are set to Run Immediately.
Can I export or reset my stats?
Yes. Go to Settings and choose Export history (CSV) or Reset all stats. Resetting can't be undone.
